It's time to put those thinking hats on and help tydwbleach name her dog!
Those of you who know the unmasked Dada Drummer probably played this game last Spring to help name the Dada Puppy. There was some good work done there! Now apply your genius to this problem:
TYDWBLEACH: "Got a dog, her name is LADY we hate this name. Need a name that sort of sounds like it. So far have come up with Baby, Lanie, AMY, GRACIE, SADIE,BAILEY so many lame others. Ususally since Bill makes guitars we name dogs after music things... Like Boogie, Banjo and Riley (BB Kings real name). KATIE is another one we thought of.... So far I like GRACIE the best Bill says NOT FOR A DOG. Well, he is calling her AMY and I say NOT FOR A DOG we need a name with a LONG A sound."
Now right off the bat, I have to say that GRACIE is off the dog name list. Because I dislike it? No! Because it is the name of Dada Drummer's favorite 14 year old girl. Out of respect for her, can't recommend that name for a dog.
Here is my first choice for you:
SHILLELAGH
(Shill-lay-lee)
Second choice:
MAISIE
If the LONG A sound can be tossed out of criteria:
POPPY
or
PIXIE

Daisy (what I'd name a beagle if I had one - Dudley if it were a boy)
Wait - is this Tryndee Naming - I mean Dayze'!
Poppy, yes. Pixie, no. Trixie, maybe. My nephew calls his dog Kitty; that's just mean.
Whatever you decide, remember "nomen est omen." Therefore, despite my fondness for all things Irish, naming a dog for a cudgel (Shillelagh) might be a bit risky.
How about Grania for Grainne Ni Mhaille, aka Grace O'Malley? That way you can keep Gracie in play without actually calling your pup Gracie. (I have to echo Dada Drummer's objection there for the exact same reason.)
Long post short: if you've no objection to naming your dog for an Irish pirate, it's a name with distinction. (And only marginally tryndee.)
If you want something with an "L," try Luna, Lyra, Lilly, or Lexie.
Lazy.
In honor of Tyne Daly.
Lacey
How about Acey? There are music connotations here aplenty.
HAHAHAHAHAH ALLL GREAT NAMES!!!! THASNK YOU SOOO MUCH PLEASE Keep them coming and thank you so much DADA for your assistance! I also amd going to post a picture on my blog of her Maybe this will help?
tydwbleach--
I just looked at the picture you posted of unnamed doggie girl. I have to say, she looks like a SADIE to me.
Mamie Delaney. I love beagles, ours is named Jenny McCarthy. Seriously.
I like MAMIE. Later you can get her a buddy and name him IKE!
:)
Ike should have a buddy named Tina.
...Oh that Ike! How about a buddy on the side named Kate?
You guys have come up with some great names.. But we cannot use MAMIE simply because that is the name of Iplaw's daughter.... Mamie Eisenhower Iplawbaby.
I like Sadie too. and Gracie and SHileighliehgg or whatever.
You guys are all awesome and I hope you have a perfect Martha Stewart Thanksgiving.
My guess is that Mamie E. Iplawbaby would not mind sharing her name with a dog in Oregon. Especially since she has no idea that Mamie is her name. I'm not really quite sure if she knows the name we actually call her. She does know that she's not supposed to be in the cat food... But does that stop her? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
But here's a question for the Drummer, Iplawbaby is now 13 mos. old. She's still a baby, but not much longer. Should she become Iplawbiggirl, Iplawtoddler, Iplawdaughter, Iplawchild or someother variation?
I figure when she learns to read and type and stuff she can pick her own handle, but that's at least a few years off.
that is the beauty of MAMIE EISENHOWER IPLAWTOT You can change it as she grows M.E. IPLAWTWEEN, M.E. IPLAWToddler, M.E. IPLAWSchoolagechild
OH and do not bother trying to keep her out of the cat food. Just be thankful she is not in the cat BOX.
iplawguy-
I have given this a lot of thought and I am advocationg iplawkid for Mamie E.
"Kid" has the easy ability to grow with her from iplawtoddlerwhoisinteverythingalready to iplawcollegejuniormajoringinpremedanddatinganiceguyfromboston
You're welcome.
Oh! my last word was cut off because of excessive length. Let me break that up so you can read it!
The second name was
iplawcollegejuniormajoringinpremed-anddatinganiceguyfromboston
:)
OK. Now you can think of a name for IPlawkid's sister who should be born in April.
Dad is a partner in a big law firm practicing IP law. He's from the midwest and Northern Virginia, loves baseball, rock and roll, travelling and politics. He favors family names.
Mom is a Nurse from Maryland who lived in L.A. for 15 years and was the Captain of her HS basketball team.
Naturally all suggestions will taken with a shaker of salt.
Late entry: Spoot.
